Throughout our work in Africa we have noticed that nothing puts a bigger smile on a children’s faces than handing them a book, despite the fact that many cannot read or write. Although government schools do exist, in many circumstances they are not easily accessible and do not provide high quality education. One of the most powerful tools used to lift someone out of poverty is education. Through the building of private schools and creating curriculum for existing schools, we aim to provide an environment conducive to learning, hence creating an opportunity for a stronger future.
“Literacy unlocks the door to learning throughout life, is essential to development and health, and opens the way for democratic participation and active citizenship.” ~ Kofi Annan
