In January of 2015, God began to bring together, through various avenues, people who were passionate about serving the least of these – nonprofit leaders, child advocates, and church members, all desperate to make an impact and make His name known. Unsure of where God would lead we began to meet once a month. It was during this time that each person was able to be vulnerable, sharing the ups and downs of doing the Lord’s work. There is beauty, pain, sacrifice, and love in the work we have been called to do on this earth, but knowing that we were in this together renewed us.
It was at one of these meetings that Acts 2:44-47 was shared, “All the believers were together and had everything in common. They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved”. These verses became the foundation of how we would work together. From this group, Acts 2 Collective was formed. Together, we are committed to building community and sharing the Gospel. Acts 2 Collective has established foundational goals that we intentionally pursue as we engage in accomplishing His great work. These goals characterize how and who we work with:
- Follow Christ’s example of meeting physical needs and, through love, sharing the Gospel
- Invest in local leaders who can bring the Gospel to their own people
- Allow for the local culture to take place in the Gospel
- Build life-long relationships with each community
